I would check the earth again and make sure it's a good connection.

Leave the speaker wire but leave speaker part of connection unplugged from head unit

Make sure you have + and - correct way fitted

As for bass what setting do u have on your amp and head unit and how did u set the gains?

Well I did it off the seat bolt and scrapped away to bear metal, this not good enough then

And is that just that whole block? Is speaker then ?

And I believe I have done the + and - properly through out the system !

That was what I got told you just have to sort out the system with messing with all the buttons now but I haven't got the foggiest idea on we're to start !

The user manual for the Head unit will tell you how to access all the different menus settings. If you have got a user manual, go to the manufactures web site and download a copy.

Take the earth lead off, have another go at scraping back to bare metal. Use fine emery cloth and also scrape the eyelet (both sides).

The correct + and - minus they are talking about is not the main power to the head unit or the Amp but the polarity of the speaker connections. (Speakers have a + and a - marked on the connectors)

Are you sure the Amp is powering up? It should have a LED that shows when it is on. What is your Amp powering? Just a Sub speaker or Sub and full range / Mid range speakers?

Maybe the Head unit has a setting which turns on the SUb output? This is why you need the user manual.

Well I don't have the user manual so I'll try search for it online I guess and ok I'll have a another go in grounding it there ! Was going to say how will if go about grounding it on the engine wall or what that's called just about the hand break bit ?

And yes I have just gone through the speaker wires as on the tweeters and door speakers I got have + and - on them so as far as I'm aware they are correct.

The amp has a light on it soon as power goes to it it's red then when it done it's check it goes bright white so as I'm aware it's powering up and powering focal tweeters and haven't got a sub yet sorry not sure what they called ie: quote Just a Sub speaker or Sub and full range / Mid range speakers?

And I'll have to try look up how to set up the radio then maybe just wired that I got sound out of them just not really a lot bass and the don't seem to working fully !

Do u mean no bass when fitted or open like your pic, if pic don't worry to much, if fitted then I would advise adding sound deadening like silent oat between the speaker and door and around the door.

U will not get alot of bass from these as the crossover will limit it as u will have a sub which will play the sub frequencies

No here not fitted as I wanted to test them first before the hard challenge of putting them in the doors ! So you think it might just be where it's not in the door yet it's quite a bit difference fro the normal ones to them thou !

                  • Re: TV touch screen ?

If the speakers look ok no rips or tears it should be fine. And mid-bass will be better when in the door, the crossover for the speakers will stop it getting the low bass frequencies as it's designed to do a specific job, for testing connect to the amp direct with no crossover, do not do this with the tweeter though.

You should buy a speaker kit of silent oat deadening about £20, check caraudiodirect
Site, then put around speaker and inside of door while you fit speakers.

On crossover leave switch on 0db
On amp turn both gain down, turn freq to 0, then leave switch on full

Only when your ready to set up properly then adjust these, just turn gain up a bit for testing.

Ok so just zero everything put mids in doors and go from there it just there is a massive difference in the the original ones and the new ones ! But it will show more when I get them in the doors i guess !

Sorry guts I no this has already been discussed but can't find it.(the thread) the sub I was going for is too big so back to looking again few sub questions thou--

                        1) what's the different between the subs with and without the air intake holes in them ??

                        2) what's people's views on the bass tubes does anyone run these or have tried them out ??

                        3) what is a good and the biggest sub size I should go?? Ie: 8"? 10"? 12"?

                        4) what is the best way the sub should be facing ie: to the boot,to either side of the rear wings or sub facing the seats ??

                        • Re: TV touch screen ?

                          1. The vent is called a port, this basically makes the sub think its in a bigger box and the size of it tunes the bass to different frequencies, but basically gives lower deeper bass. Generally a sealed box will give a tight faster bass response. But remember I'm talking generally as there will be lots of variations in between.

                          2. I have never had a bass tube, I have heard them namely bazooka and they can be just as good as a box but use a smaller sub and less space.

                          3. Size really depends on taste, I have mostly had 10's, I like them as they are more weightier than an 8 but take up less space than a 12, my last car had 2 10's at one stage but in the smart 1 is more than enough, I may consider a 12 in the future depends how board I get.

                          4. Experiment. Generally they fire backwards towards the rear, at the moment mine is in a box designed to fire downwards, across is fine but I don't think facing forward is good for a hatch, this will mainly be used in saloon/cabrio cars where it will be fired through the ski hatch.

There is no definitive answer do what sounds best for you.

                            8" will be fine......

why not build your own enclosure

Ok so from your point of views guys what's better then enclosed or with the hole then ?

And yeah was on,y looking at them tubes due to it being less space but didn't know if they still give out the good bass etc ! And yeah I have been looking at 8" and 10" won't go no bigger than than well not in the fortwo them sizes are plenty big enough I think !

I was only asking on the placement of it as @problemchild I was thinking of just buying a sub and making my own box but kinda wanted to know the best placement so I could build it properly ! But then if I build my own don't it have to be certain size and shape to work properly ?
