Yes the heater is rubbish, - Arthur never got warm on the commute to work today - but that's the price you pay for an efficient engine that doesn't waste a lot of petrol as heat. If you want to warm the car up quickly, keep it in a low gear so it's using the turbo. I got an electric fan heater that plugs into the cig lighter: absolutely rubbish, worse than useless. It makes a lot of noise and doesn't do anything.
As for the front windscreen heater, if Ford have the patents for putting wires across the screen, why can't Smart put the electric heating element over the demisting fans so it can blow warm air straight away?
The one thing I would change if I could would be the noisy fans. Does anyone know if it's easy to change them?
Either there is something wrong or heaters vary per market since our heater works fine in -7 or so. (Mk 6 Cab). Keeps the car warm in 1C with the lid off even.
I would really like to see that annoyingly placed button for the trip meter / outside temp, moved onto the wiper / indicator stalk (like in Golf's). Why on earth Smart have hidden on the left of the speedo is beyond me.....
I saw paddleshift on the second page, and if that is the same as your gear with paddles on the stearingwheel (tiptronic, like formula one racing cars have) than that should definately become standard in a Smart. But widening the tyre size would be fine with me also, but then they should also widen the wheel housing, like on a Brabus. Or put the widening strips (Brabus also) on the car. And standard fog lamps in the front...
