  • sunroof problems with a roadster

My sunroof is only opening just a few inches when it was working perfectly before. Iam a bit of a novice with mechanical things so I cannot understand why it is not working. I have checked in rear compartment to see if the fold down thing is at fault, but it seems to be ok. I would very much appreciate if anyanyone could give me any advice as to what the problem might be. Thanks in advance

I would say that the runners need lubrication.

Most people have found that White Lithium grease is best and can be obtained from Halfords and other motor accessory shops in a spray can.

Apply to where the outer edges of the roof runners move through the roof bar channel then operate your roof a few times to work it in.
I reject your reality and substitute my own

I know you said you checked the folding fault but have a look on every fold and push it out.

Have the engine turned on when trying to open it, sometimes that speeds things up and gives it moore o00mph.

When it has gone down as much as it can and stops, get out the car and check on the roof bar to see if its lifting the seal up and getting jammed.

make sure there is no grit trapped in the groves the roof runs along, this happens sometimes especially if greased heavily, also the sliders can break, whatever you do don't force anything.

The fabric part isn't the whole roof and until you remove the side bars, the fabric roof is, more or less, a big Webasto sunroof.

Check that it is folding properly.
