  • Fan constantly running...Why

For the first time ever, a fan at the front of my 52 plate, 450 passion will not shut off.

This evening on arriving home, a fan at the front continued to run after turning off the ingn key. Still running after 2 hours with the car parked up and engine off... It is not the heater blower. I had been running the A/C. Question, Does the 450 have a fan behind the Evaporator ? Is it controlled by a sensor. Obviously, disconnecting the battery stops it, but reconnecting restarts the fan. So over night i've left the battery disconnected.
    Any advice is welcome please.
    Thanks

fan relay stuck on, normally arc'd and stuck in the on position, replace the relay, job done

Thanks Nikb and Smartsparky. I'll have a look later. Am I right in thinking the relay is inside the Sam / zee ? I dont want to go pulling things apart blindly and creating problems.

As your car is a 599cc, it will have a fusebox and Zee. The relays simply plug in to the fuse box.

I'm not sure which one it will be without double checking the wiring diagrams. Try removing either D or G and see if that turns off the fan Failing that, try each of the others!

G I think. Removed G and fan stopped. Refitted it and so far its ok. If the same thing happens again, ill buy a new one.

            Thanks for all the advice..

Do you have front fog lights? If not, you could swap relays A and G in the interrim.

Well blow me down. Since I saw you last, you've changed your screen name. I didn't realize who was giving the advice. Did you finish building your super car ? I'd love to see it sometime.
                  Have you moved house ?
