Welcome Beep Beep!
There are several tubes from the UK going to Smartimes in a variety of ways - and I imagine quite a
few will make their own way there.
The oficial smartclub trip will be very well organised and might be a good option for a 'newbie'.
You may have noticed the 2 threads for smartimes this year - the Normandy thread being an offshoot
as it were.
Several of us were already spending the holiday together in Normandy and would travel from there,
so 2 threads seemed a sensible way of not cluttering the main thread with confusing messages.
IMO we should DEFINATELY rendez vous with the Spanish and French.
Then travelling to meet up with a belgian group on the thursday evening is so
entirely in keeping with the whole idea of Smartimes that I would personally be
a little dissappointed if we didn't try.
Could we clarify the basic plan - it is a little confusing at the moment!
I believe it goes something like this;
We travel down to Le Mans and meet with the the french and spanish groups
for a meal - we are looking for suggestions for restaurants?)
Spend some time there and the Brits and (some) french travel back to St Georges
for a grand meal and spend the night camping/local hotel.
The Spanish will either
book into a le Mans Hotel and rendez vous with us on the road - for example, the town of
Bourg Achard lies at the junction of the A13 (our road) and A28( road from Le Mans)
OR book a hotel in Domfront/camp in the garden? join us at the restaurant in St Georges
and travel directly with us..
I'm certainly not dictating the agenda but it is often useful to have a plan so you can
work out what you need to change!
The key to this will be Smart Times sounding out our spanish friends and working out
what best suits them as a group, and we will do our best to work round them..
-rdv the 22th for lunch in Le Mans with Spanish, British and French smarties.
After the lunch, Spanish will go to Paris
French will spend the 22th PM in a road trip Le Mans-La Giboudiere. With British or not, you choose
-rdv the 22th for dinner in StGeorge with Brtish and French.
The 23th, roadtrip to Belgium.
NB : A visit to Smartville is maybe possible the 24th, if it is, some French will go to Hambach before Belgium the 25th.

Miami when you post your updated lists could you also postyour proposed route/itinerary
from St Georges to Antwerp?
I presume its E402 rouen, E44 to Amiens then E17 past Arras , Lille and Gent?
It is always useful to use Streetview to check the keypoints on the route - especially how the
overhead signs on the autoroute are labelled at intersections.
And if anyone is still determined to take an alternative route, I would seriously suggest they
start detailed research now.
600+ km cross country is a big ask especially of a Satnav - even with waypoints and selecting
'avoid autoroutes'. The software is written for major routes and will not perform logically
or efficiently using it in a different mode.
i dont entirely agree with you there davros , got split up from the group not far from calais and found my way to the hotel avoiding tolls , done 80km less and turned up a hour before the others , all in a slow unreliable four two !
wow you guys are really planning to put in alot of millage and fule for these lists.. what kind of traveling money would you sugest a driver takes for your adventures if thay tag along and enjoy camping out for the night stop overs?
Dont know really is the short answer to that one! About 3 fillups of fuel - perhaps four. Camping is free at the farm in Normandy but the hotel in Antwerp is around 240 for the 3 nights. Apart from that, "spenders" is up to you! I am a tight b45t4rd so it wont be much!
