Re: Miss Fire makes short irregular visits!

Now it has a set of approved coils and lower spark plugs and leads and the missis says that it feels a lot better.
Now, I find it very odd that a bad coil could make the engine sluggish and occasional misfire without producing a fault code!

I think the only thing left that is not from the old engine is 2 upper spark plug leads 3 spark plugs and the crank Position Sensor witch is new.

                Ööhh? oh yes!

                Why?
This summer have been, rain, rain, rain, and further up north it will be worse.

Have you ever been to Belgium in a dry Summer? perma cloud of the big black threatening type, watch out for the cameras at the lights as well, oh and the car sized potholes in the roads in places, mind you those cobbles should sort out your glitches one way or another

Well, it made it through the roads in Riccione witch is the worst I have ever seen.
Watch out for the frost stricken roads of northern Sweden and Norway.

                      Miss Fire is gone!
It looks like it was the coils, or one of them.

Re: Miss Fire makes short irregular visits!

Every time I say she is gone she flickers the throttle just to tell me that she is still there!
Now when we went to Antwerp the "problem" began a couple of minutes after going on the motorway reminding us now and then not to feel to secure all the way to Antwerp and then disappear for days. No problem at all going to Spa and then coming back when we were going home. It just shows itself when using more that 50% of the engine power and more than 2000 revs.
Now I am beginning to think it is not Miss Fire but the throttle closing very briefly. There is something similar when easing of the throttle after accelerating. I think this is a programming thing because there is a 45kw ECU and a 60kw engine.
I might have the possibilaty to get a Smart 60kw Brabus MAP and I think that will take care of the thing that happends at easing of the throttle, maybe also the Miss Fire thing.
I will drive the car to work for a couple of weeks with some kind of diagnoses program on to see if I can find out something.

Re: Miss Fire makes short irregular visits!

                          I just had an idea!
I have an 45kw engine in the garage!
I take the camshaft from that and put in the 60kw engine in Lilla Svarten and voilla! I have an 45kw engine with an oil cooler.
That would take care of the missmatch between 45kw and 60KW ECU.
                          Am i right here?
I have (after changing the cam)
                          the turbo from the 45kw
                          the injectors from the 45kw
and the camshaft from the 45kw
Is there any more difference between the engines? (apart from the oil cooler)

Missfire will be electrical Jorgen, not cam based, problems from that would be every cycle of a particular piston.

Well the original problem was (probably) electric (I changed the coils) but now I think it might be a mismatch between the 60kw engine cam and the 45kw ECU. Anyway the thing that happens when going of throttle I am pretty sure is a mismatch.

If it disappears for days I take it this theoretical mismatch has gone for days too?

It wasn't this one you changed the CPS on was it?
Was it a genuine smart one?
