    Re: Smart MR2 conversion

    Quick update.

Jim took 'Froglet' for a private test at Curborough on Tuesday. Had a great time and the car is flying. A couple of small modifications to make i.e. sort out a couple of minor vibrations but all went very well and it didnt flip over.

First thing on the shopping list are some new tyres (sticky but not slicks) so were nipping up the road to Kumho later to see what fits.

Sorry no video as I couldnt get the time off work, but Jim hasn't stopped smiling so it must have been a good day.

The Sunday is the regular day for the Gloucester meet....so we will be having a trip to Shelsey Walsh, with whoever wants to come along! What time does it start on Sunday?

Lets hope for a nice day ... bring a picnic/bbq (are they allowed?)

Practice starts at 9.30am and usually ends about 5pm. Picnics are fine but 'NO' BBQ sorry. There are plenty of hot and cold food outlets + Ice cream and a Bar etc.

        See you there

          Re: Smart MR2 conversion

          Hi All,

Things have moved on at a pace over the last week. We now have a sponsor in Smart of Wolverhampton and the car has featured in the Express and Star and our local Bridgnorth Journal. A new set of Roadster alloys are on their way and should be fitted with slicks ready for Shelsley on 3rd/4th May. Our entry came in the post yesterday and we are car number 103, all we can do now is hope it dosent rain. Hope to see some of you over the weekend and dont forget there will be a special car parking area for all Smarties'.

Cheers and thanks again for your support.

          Pam, Jim and Froglet

              Yes!!!

There are a lot of other pictures & stuff from Pam about, as well as videos of Froglet on the hills.......pulling wheelies from the start & out of the hairpin at Prescott!!!
Great to watch.....go and see it whenever you can! (& you can chat to Pam & Jim about it in the pits!)

                  Re: Smart MR2 conversion

I wouldn't have thought it would last very long on a 'work run around' car....certainly before someone crashed it in a big way!!!

Froglet has around 220bhp (according to Jim)...and loads of torque...would need to be used vary carefully on the road! (be great fun though!!!):silvertri

I think it's a lot better than the bike engine conversions as a road car, as far more drivable, and the engine doesn't take up all the boot space (only comes out about 3 or 4 inches higher than the std boot floor.)

I wonder if one could fit the "hayabusa V8" they use in the Atoms etc? That would be proper windowlicking time.

Sounds like the best way to fill up the greenhouse on the back of the coupe...

                              That would be my preference!
Saw this and thought it was also an interesting venture!

Ferrina - many of my best friends either drive or drove MGFs or TFs, so I don't have the usual prejudices .
