Yeah, would be interested to find out more. On that info about R6 engines, I'm considering bike power now, but nothing mad though. The modest power of a ZX9R engine sounds good and cost effective at 138bhp from a 899cc lump. Not sure what to do now? Got a nice VVC 1.4 16V K series in the back garden, but I'm out of cash at the moment and frustrated!!

Sorry, gone a bit further off topic there!!

I disagree slightly with this, if you know what you are doing the Roadie is quite easily controlled in a rear end slide, probably the simplest rear wheel drive to control that I have driven, including BMWs, MX5s and MR2s.

Oh and the rather quick traffic Volvos, and Beemers

Hmmm... how far are we from a UK series - anyone interested?

If my French is still good enough, they say that Scuderia CS is preparing the cars to the same specifications and you can rent one for the season. So we are not really talking about "plain vanilla" smartz.
A competition in the UK? I'm not too sure - I like my car too much to put it on the track for a competition and risk it getting damaged.

Did I not mention that smarts are actually pretty hilarious on track?? Far more fun than they ought to be... far more capable too.

I was pretty surprised myself when I took the eddy around the track at Brooklands.

They handle quite well at speed, I'm up for hiring a go-kart track for the day!!! Didn't see any evidence of bike engines?

Everywhere other than the Nurburgring is a go-kart circuit to me...

I've had both a standard and nicely modified fortwo on track now and really enjoyed both... the lack of inertia is especially obvious when things get properly twisty. Bring on the next 'Ring trip...

well you see its a bit different with the ordinary folk

you learnt your driving skills from the people who wrote the book!

Have to sat that driving the roadster in the winter, on snow and ice is great fun..

                          OVERSTEER!!!! .)

                          Back to brakes..

I have to disagree that adding disc brakes to the rear is only a track mod. But adding more bite in the rear without adjusting the bias is doomed. How much you would have to adjust it depends on other suspension charateristics?.. But, as at least the roadster has a weight distribution of 40/60"roughly" it need at least the same size brakes in the rear as on the front to maximise mechanical grip.

In other words, bin the ABS and learn how to use the brakes proper..
