    Oh no that's right it's a smart!
Assuming said lorry's loaded & there's a reasonable speed differential, the survivability is zero regardless of what Smart you're in

Very nice, it's how I expected it to look when I heard about the ForFour first time around!

        Re: NEW Smart ForFour

why is it that Mitsubishi still manufacture the Colt while Smart ditched the ForFour, which is a half decent car on the basis that its unusual.
The worrying issue is Japanese manufacturers having cars built in europe is never a good idea as its sure to tarnish their reputation for reliability that they enjoy.I own a Colt D-ID and the build quality is poor i am sure the production workers were stoned when they built it.It is however reliable so far but the engine is awful shame mitsubishi didn't opt for the 1.6 PSA Diesel engine as found in Mini Fords Citreons pugs etc.
Still judging by some people on here they have managed to make their CDI quick so there is hope for the engine
I have always like the expensive forfour brabus,i think i will have to own one before they get too tatty

          Re: NEW Smart ForFour

The new colt is a totally different car from the old one the ForFour is based on. Daimler would have had a big job re building the ForFour to the new platform and as the car wasn't making much of a dent in the market and smart was losing money at that time they dumped it.

I'm confused, Is this about a possible new upcoming model or just old forfour bashing ?

Both, you can't discuss the new without trashing the old apparently!

BTW that isn't an Auto Express image, not sure who is responsible for it as that's been circulated around the continental presses before getting to us.

                  Re: NEW Smart ForFour

not wanting to get flamed, i quite like the look of that the new fortwo+2
i nearly got a Four4 last year, (got a dull astra instead as it was bigger)
i still might get a four4 at some point, if i need 2 big(er) cars.

If you like it you like it no one is going to flame you for that!
It would be good to know just how much space was in the back of them though.

there are always a couple of lemon's out there and you got the forfour one!!

there are a lot more lemon fortwo's and roadsters but apparently, turbos blowing up, engines failing, water leaks etc etc etc is all "character"

I've had a fortwo and now own a forfour and i have loved both cars but the forfour is built much better that the fortwo was!!

                      anyway....

the styling of the forfour is smart!
the flexibility of the forfour is smart!
using a visible safety shell is smart!
dash pods, unique materials, plastic panels is smart!
the use of merc parts and merc engines is smart!

don't the fortwo and roadster use commercial off the shelf gearboxes??

they aren't expensive - great value car considering performance and spec. Corsa VXR isn't as fast as the BRAB

haha - harping on about how bad the forfour is and you've never seen one the space in the back is flexible. the rear seat bench moves back and forth to trade leg room for boot space. even with max boot space, you can still get 2 adults in the back and 2 suitcases. The bench seat also has split folding and tumble function giving it good available space. I got my 7ft xmas tree in the back no probs.

I love my forfour but i also like the fortwo and raodster but i wouldn't slate the roadster for not being very "roadster" just because i owned a vx220 and for the same money as a roadster you could just get the VX and have a proper sports car

                        Re: NEW Smart ForFour

As I remember when the 451 came out, smart said that the floorpan was designed from the outset for easy changeability which suggested new variations would eventually be introduced.

As mentioned, the brand can't survive on just one model, things have changed since the VW Beetle and that car nearly bankrupt Volkswagen. I'm looking forward to a new roadster model .

smart should grow some and release the plastic jeep thingy

Never mind trying to compete in a saturated market, stick to the tiddler two seater sector
