Yuk Vauxhalls,the Brabus is quick and handles better than the Colt czt,but i thought the Brabus new price was £17195 which is a lot for a small car its more than Clio 197 Corsa VXR.That said i do like the Brabus the interior is special with a sense of occasion and all that.
Used Brabus are good value now but when i wanted one 2years ago i could not afford it so bought a new Colt CZT then changed for D-ID.

The new colt is a totally different car from the old one the ForFour is based on. Daimler would have had a big job re building the ForFour to the new platform and as the car wasn't making much of a dent in the market and smart was losing money at that time they dumped it.

what do you mean by the new colt?
The current hideous looking 2009 Colt is the same car as the 2004 colt except the horrible new front end and slightly improved dashboard.

there are always a couple of lemon's out there and you got the forfour one!!

Err, the forfour two actually. smart never managed to make my suspension quiet on either of my forfours, sadly.

The current hideous looking 2009 Colt is the same car as the 2004 colt except the horrible new front end and slightly improved dashboard.

The interior has turned really drab on the facelift Colt, no glowing plastics the heater controls are now turn switches instead of dials.

Here's another major difference between the forfour and Colt; the forfour from the Pulse upwards has discs all round and ESP as standard. The Colt has discs and drums and no ESP as standard. But the braking system in the later coolstyle and purestyle was based on the Pure's discs and drums set up, from the Colt.

The forfour was the only small hatchback at the time to offer ESP, ABS, TC, HBA, ASR all as standard!! Not even the Colt offered that.

My sister has a Colt DI-D auto and the dealer has said the smell of clutch is standard on that model! She hates it.

LOL your right the Auto is truly awful i had a loan Colt with auto it was so jerky nearly as bad as those clutchless manual system that some companies insist on fitting to tiny city cars.

They must have messed up at Mitsi when fitting the Getrag box. Unless they chose a different auto box

On the forfour it takes some getting used to, after that it is great especially in manual mode.

Apparantly the 6sp mitsi auto is better in the petrol than the diesel,but its to be expected as less torquey.The Auto in the Colt must be a different unit to the Soft touch in the smart.
It would explain why the Smart box is smoother,its a strange move by Mitsubishi given that they built both the Colt and the ForFour in their Nedcar factory.

As I said earlier there are a lot of differences between the two and wouldn't be surprised if the gearboxes did differ as there doesn't seem to be any problems with the Colt.

my suspension is a little bit knocky as well - its been taken apart and its all fine!!

its like saying "i like my new civic type-r but the rear suspension is a bit ****" and try and get honda to replace the rear torsion beam set up with dual wishbones!!

Surely if it is Knocky then it isn't right, probably out of warranty now though.

The Petrol forfour I had as a loner for a while had no knocking.

no - in warranty till 2010.........!! oh yeah...another benefit of the forfour....4 years warranty!!

once all the bushes warm up its ok - think its just a trait of it being so stiff and having very little give in the low profile tyres

I got to ride in a forfour for the first time this weekend and it was great. The air vents look like boobies!

i don't see it!!

...but i thought the Brabus new price was £17195 which is a lot for a small car

new it was overpriced (but did have a high spec) and that makes it very rare now.....just about into triple figures!! but now you can get an 05plate for around £8k which makes it great value!!
