What do you intend to achieve by fitting that?

Ruin your thermostat and end up having leaks, possibly overheated engine and warped cylinder head?

A simple thermostat bypass circuit controlled by a tap and minimizing heat loss. The tap will be opened for ventilation on system and in the rest of time will be closed..
Original internal check valve is sealed permanently.
High probability of failure but any change is potentially dangerous.

My Gates thermostat developed leaks this week. Turns out the female thread portion of its lower housing has deformed due to very poor design and prolonged exposure to heat under pressure.
Gates make real shite thermostats. They should stick to rubber belts which they are good at.

Indeed, noticed these deformities when It is new thermostat .
A metal housing is suitable but difficult to achieve and it reminded me of the heating solenoid for BMW. https://www.pieseauto.ro/alte-piese-...819588849.html
Located in places accessible maintenance. The problem is that need for PWM controlled to avoid thermal shock.
The alternative is a slide valve. http://www.romstal.ro/robineti-cu-sertar-c6965.html

Has anyone tried the Fibo thermostat?

Gates is real shite. I'll repeat Gates is real shite. O ring seal that seals interface between upper and lower housing is functioning as a gasket, not as an o-ring. A minor movement of upper housing relative to lower housing will cause a leak.

Buckster does not know much about thermostats.

A thermostatic valve was an option if it were 90 degrees C . But is not nobody take a shower with water at 90 ...
My thermostat Gates (improved) mounted a year ago no longer work well, must adopted another solution - electromagnetic thermostat (like upon BMW, Audi).

Today the temperature was 4 ° C and the humidity of 91%.
In these conditions I needed 8 km to reach 3 -this dots determine me to say that the thermostat is working improperly.

It would be so much quicker and probably cheaper for you to buy a original Smart thermostat from MB /Smart - I agree they don't last very long, but it would give you time to come up with a better solution whilst you have heating in your car!

The original Smart thermostat also has its flaws. That is why we have tried improving on coolant temperature control.

My Gates is fixable, the only problem is I have not yet figured out best fix. One solution is to hold thermostat top to main body with radial stainless steel M5 set screws. Another solution is a C shaped ring clamp. Third solution is a combination of the two.

Solving only with stainless is impossible in Ro, solving the electromagnet is possible but we have prepared with gate valve and electric windshield wiper ; actually are components left over from a previous project ...
A resolution would be inserting a ring of steel instead of plastic seat body original thermostat - like seat valves but problems sealing and stability.

                            Nor do I pretend otherwise.
