Re: TV touch screen ?
I agree with john, earth directly to the car, make sure you have clean metal, job done, leave battery for power only.

Re: TV touch screen ?
It's one less joint in the battery compartment. Connections to the Battery are no better and no worse than good connections to the car's chassis.
If there was +'ve connection to a junction box that could take the power requirement, I would advocate using that instead of a direct connection to the battery.
Anyway, using the chassis as the ground helps with eliminating external noise and it reduces the extra weight of another cable. I know a single cable doesn't weight that much, but combined with all the other "stuff" people have in their cars, the weight saving helps fuel economy.
"But each to their own" It's not my car, so do it which ever way you want to. They should both work.

I only was going there as people was saying keep the lead as short as poss I was gonna just go to the battery at first lol

Re: TV touch screen ?
battery -ve all the way............... that seat bolt seems very corroded.
the chassis is an earthing point because its connected to the battery - so why not bypass the soft steel chassis and use the decent cable?

Re: TV touch screen ?
The best would be between the floor and the seat rail if you can clean both surfaces to bright metal. It will probably work OK if you just put it under the bolt head if you can't manage the above. You can always redo it if it turns out that your AMP does not get enough power to work correctly.

Re: TV touch screen ?
There are not a lot of places you can put things in a ForTwo.
Amp, depending on it's size can go under a seat, or behind a seat. Either place has carpet, so easiest way to fix the Amp in position is using stick on Velcro hoops, stick the hoop side to the bottom of the Amp and put is where you want it. If you use enough Velcro it won't go anywhere!
Depending which side of the car your battery is located, put the Amp that side. Lift the edge of the carpet and you can run the main power lead and the remote switch on cable down the side of the car to the front. Use a suitable fuse within about 6 inches of the connection to the positive terminal of the battery. That will limit the length of any possible "hot" wire should a short develop. DON'T connect this up till you have finished ALL wiring!
The remote can then be taken up the side of car in the footwell and so to the back of the head unit.
The Negative power lead can now be put in place. If you put the Amp under a seat, the rear fixing bolt on one of the seat rails can be used as a earthing point. Make sure you clean things to bright metal, preferably under the rail on both surfaces.
If you put the Amp on the sloping firewall behind the seats, then you have choice of earth points. the seat rail as above or you can go through the carpet near the handbrake and through the rubber grommet into the engine bay. There are a couple of bolts there which you can attach your cable to. Again, clean things to bright metal.
When you have tightened the fixings, you should cover the bright metal with something to stop the rust. Paint, grease, will all work.
Now you can run your Amp speaker input wires down the other side of the car under the carpet along with your speaker wires if you are using your Amp to power those.
Depending on where you put your Sub Woofer, you can hide your wires under the carpet.
I prefer my wires not to move around, So I put a line of impact adhesive (Evostick) where I want my wires to sit. Then put dabs of impact adhesive on the wires, wait till the glue is tacky and push the two together. The wires an always be pulled away from where you have stuck them, but in general will stay where they were put until then.

Re: TV touch screen ?
Most amplifier manufactures say to keep the leads as short as possible.
This usually means that you have to have a lead direct from the battery with a suitable fuse as close to the battery as possible (as there is unlikely to be suitable connection elsewhere that is capable of supply the power needed).
So depending on where you fix the amp in the car as to where the nearest suitable earthing point is. If it is behind the seats in a ForTwo, then you have a choice of the seat rail bolts, or going through the firewall (there is an existing hole) and terminating in the engine bay.
That way, you get the leads as short as possible.
As long as you get good earths, good connections to the battery via a fuse. Good connections to your head unit and speakers you should not suffer from weird electrical noises in a modern car. They should have suitable suppression systems in place already. In older cars, you can get alternator whine or HT clicking on your audio due to bad suppression / bad connections.

Re: TV touch screen ?
@adrimo well at the moment the due to with the single HU I'll only have the 1 RCA on it.
And yeah I think it will be easier to ground it on the battery then as long as it works perfectlyit's all good really

Re: TV touch screen ?
I always thought that to avoid noise in the system, it was best to ground all the audio equipment to the same location.
And that the battery was the best grounding point.
By grounding to the bodywork, surely you are adding in difficulties such as bad contact and a noisy path back to the battery??
